For years and years this has been the week that much of my family would gather at our cottage in the upper peninsula of Michigan to celebrate my Mom’s birthday with her.
Every year the tradition was that she would ride the jet ski… every year all the way through her 80s!
Even though she’s gone now the family still chooses this week to gather. Not everyone can make it all of the time. We haven’t gone up in years. Living out of state and raising orphaned beavers tends to curtail one’s travels.
I’m sure tonight there will be a big ‘bomb’-fire with everyone gathered around . I’m sure Mom’s spirit will be right there with them.
My heart is there too, even if I’m not.
Happy birthday MaMa… I miss you.
