Yesterday, Mr.C. and I went into the nearby town of Luray, VA.
He works there now and we have often gone there to shop or take visitors to see the famous caverns.
We drive by this walking trail and I’ve often wanted to stop and check it out but never have done so until yesterday.
Yesterday it was our destination.
What a wonderful thing this town has done! It is called the Hawksbill Greenway and it is a two mile trail that is level, paved and surrounded by nature and art.
We started out at the loop around a cow grazing pasture and admired this grumpy looking calf and the wide assortment of cows.
We admired the fall colors
And yes, you can fish
Murals of which I could only find one credit to a specific artist,
otherwise they were credited to ‘local artists’ and ‘children’
We took advantage of the nicely appointed, and CLEAN restrooms
They take their cleanliness seriously and provide plenty of trash barrels and Mutt Mitts! Loved that!
About mid-way you can get off of the path and get lunch and visit the shops on Main street
We visited here
We ate here… very yummy!
Then we headed back to the car and got to see this newly born calf stand up for the first time!
If we had gotten back just a little bit earlier we would have seen it being born!
Here it stands up for the first time
It was a very nice and relaxing walk. HUGE kudos to the town of Luray for making this park happen.
The town of Front Royal needs to step up and do something similar along Happy Creek and Main St!
