Recovering From the Shoveling
March 7, 2013Snowquestration
Oh yes they did call it that on the news! Silly.
It was truly a strange storm, many nearby areas got nothing and yet we got slammed with about 20” of the heaviest wet snow I’ve ever had the non-pleasure of shoveling.
I took a walk around the property this morning to see the damages.
Our Dogwoods all seem to have at least one or two branches broken.
My Purple leaf Plum will never look the same
The bamboo will stand back up when the snow melts
Pudge will enjoy the broken branches from the Curly Willow
The pines took a hit
My favorite tree, A White Birch had most of it’s branches broken
And I had an injury too
I pinched my thumb in the corkscrew ![]()
It’s 44 degrees right now and everything is melting quickly. Our power was only out for about 4 hours, and the Crazy Dog Guy plowed our driveway so we really consider ourselves lucky on this one.
Mother Nature surprises again! Been thinking about you, thanks for the report….20 inches….crazy!
The local news is saying we got 20 inches as well, but as soon as it warmed above freezing our heavy snow started collapsing on itself and went down several inches very quickly! I’m sorry your trees suffered so much damage, but I winced at you corkscrew injury. I hope you drank a couple of glasses to relieve the pain!
We saw Al Roker and crew standing on a hill in Front Royal while the snow was coming down. Was hoping to see you!!
