Shopping Trip Gone Wrong
December 7, 2012Got a call from animal control today.
Apparently, this crazy Coopers Hawk decided it wanted to shop HUNT at Big Lots and instead of using the door he decided to try to fly through the window.
I don’t have the knowledge nor the Federal license required to care for injured raptors, so I drove him over to the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center for repairs.
Hopefully he’ll heal so I can go and get him and release him back where he belongs… in the wooded area BEHIND Big Lots!
I think that “crazy” and “coopers hawk” in the same sentence is redundant!
I would have to agree!
Beautiful birds! We have so many here – Redtails too. I love watching them – but not while they’re stalking my chickens. My big roo, Duke, tackled and fought with several Cooper’s Hawks, and Redtail Hawks – but he’s no longer with us
These days we just run outside and clap our hands to chase them off – but they are brazen, and protected, little buggers! Glad you were able to get this one to someone who could help. And glad he’ll be released behind BigLots, and not here!
Surprised that a Coopers went after your chickens, they usually stick to the smaller, more managable prey like songbirds and mice. Duck was a good protector!
Look at that sweet innocent little face.
HA!
Oh dear, he does look a little naughty.
It’s a good thing he didn’t get in the door, imagine the chaos!
