Birthday Week….Art Prize 2012
October 7, 2012So after the Capris left Meijer Gardens we headed over to Downtown Grand Rapids to check our some of the entries in the 2012 Art Prize competition. The town was PACKED with other folks doing the same.
There are MANY entries and I’m sure there is no way to see them all in just a few hours. Luckily Capri D had already been there and acted as our guide to some of her favorites.
I particularly wanted to see this beautiful mosaic, ‘Return to Eden’…
*The detail was amazing! This artist works in much the same style as I do, using different sized shards of stained glass instead of the traditional square tile mosaic.
*Truly stunning work… very inspiring!
*A whimsical 3-D mosaic, Mama hedgehog pushing a. stroller with baby critters wrapped in a blanket
*Here is a STUNNING oil painting… It was so realistic it felt like you could just step into the woods.
*A ‘mosaic’ of a sort… Marilyn, using every day items
*Driftwood Horses… way cool!
*Customized motorcycles…
*This dragon was crafted entirely with gold buttons suspended at different heights with fishing line!
So much creativity! So much talent! I wish we would have had time to see everything!
God sure did give some people the gift of creativity!! There were some amazing things over there, especially the mosaics.
