More on the Week of Company
January 6, 2012While the gang was here we went to Luray. While the ‘youngins’ checked out the caverns BFG, C.D., Mr.C, and I walked the greenway. There was an adorable new calf to behold!
C.D. and B.F.G. both enjoyed the walk.
After our walk we met the kids back at the caverns
The next day we did a road trip to Alexandria Virginia to check out the Torpedo Factory.
It is exactly that… an old torpedo factory which has been converted into many different art studios.
Three floors of art in many mediums… paint, fiber, clay, metal, glass, and…. gum?
Yes, GUM! I had to sneak this picture especially for Mrs. Schmenkman.
I was especially excited to find this store
It’s always fun to go someplace with a water front
THIS, is a Coot Schmenky…
Loved the architecture and the old town feel
Also loved the apothecary museum
Way cool stuff in there!
From Alexandria we took the water taxi over to National Harbor, more on that another day…
There ia a LOT to comment about on the post!
1. Someone needs to give that calf a smooch on the nose.
2. How much do I love the pictures of Deb and BFG and you and Mr. C????
3. That’s a BIG OLE GUM PILE!!!!
4. Life IS Good!
5. Now why would one call somebody and OLD coot? It looks like a perfectly fine fowl to me.
6. I like that stone/rock road muchly.
7. The apothecary museum looks like something that could be found in Harry Potter’s wizarding world!
8. Wish I could have been there.
Wow… you even COMMENT in lists!
Wish you were there too!
Those were some fun days! I loved it all, but perhaps the most memorable will be the apothecary museum….that handwritten order from Martha Washington just made it real….and made me thankful for our modern medicine.
If I ever get to Virginia, I want to go to that Apothecary museum and the Torpedo Factory — they both looked like interesting and fun places.
I guess you must have to reconstitute the Dragon’s Blood if they keep it in a drawer instead of a bottle!
Nice photos of the people and the places.
I sure do enjoy going on walks with you!
